Clean Air Asia fully supports the decision of the DENR-EMB to update the outdated emission standards and to implement an emission charge system. In addition to this, we recommend the adoption of more stringent emission standards aligned with international best practice in Asia.
This position paper is drafted in response to the Philippine Environmental Management Bureau’s call for comments and position papers on the draft ‘DENR Administrative Order (DAO) on Updating of Section 19 Of RA 8749 on the NESSSAP, Establishment of MERS for PM, SOx As SO2, NOx As NO2, and CO, and Establishment of Emission Charge System Pursuant to Section 13 of Republic Act 8749 (Clean Air Act).’
