The 6th Air Quality Management (AQM) City Workshop of Clean Air Asia China Network 第六届中国城市空气质量管理研讨会(2010)

The 6th Air Quality Management City Workshop of Clean Air Asia China Network was combined with the “Seminar on Integrated Management for Air Pollution Control in China”, on 6-7 December 2010 in Beijing.

This Seminar was jointly organized by the World Bank (WB) and Foreign Economic Cooperation Office (FECO) of Ministry of Environmental Protection of China (MEP) with Clean Air Asia as the partner and with support from Energy Foundation. The integration expanded the audience from 13 city-members of the Clean Air Asia China City Network to 107 cities.

Opening Ceremony

This workshop was aimed to

  1. to share the milestone findings from a number of policy-oriented research projects funded by the WB and EF, and
  2. discuss the applicability of the approaches and measures at city level during the 12th Five-Year Plan (FYP) (2011-2015 period).

The targeted audience of this workshop is primarily the officials of Environmental Protection Bureaus (EPB)s and their technical and policy support agencies of the 107 cities which failed to comply with the Class 2 Ambient Air Quality Standard in 2009.

Eventually, there were 108 participants representing 22 provinces/ municipalities at the workshop, among which 66 representatives came from cities, and 32 from Department of Environment Protection (DEP) of provinces. Twelve (12) of the 66 city representatives were also from Clean Air Asia network cities: Chengdu, Chongqing, Harbin, Jinan, Lanzhou, Tianjin, and Urumqi.
