BACKGROUND

This event will bring together national policy makers, regulatory authorities, public health specialists, NGOs, and ADB project officers to discuss the health effects of air pollution. We will consider the updated WHO Air Quality Guidelines 2021, and how national governments and city authorities should use these guidelines to set their own targets and navigate towards improving air quality and public health and wellbeing.

We will look at the current understanding of the effects of air pollution on health, and methods for quantifying the health impacts of exposure to air pollution and monetizing the benefits that result from improving air quality. Lessons learned on the challenges and solutions related to health improvement through better air quality will be highlighted.
