International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD)

IFRTD Regional Secretariat for Asia and the Pacific is based in Sri Lanka. Currently, IFRTD Asia-Pacific region has ten National Forum Groups/Networks/government organisations affiliated to IFRTD in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and India (currently in interim arrangements) , Cambodia, the Philippines and Indonesia and strategic and knowledge sharing contacts with the Transport Development Strategic Institute (TDSI) in Vietnam and Department of Roads in Lao PDR.

The IFRTD is a global network of individuals and organisations working together towards improved access, mobility and economic opportunity for poor communities in developing countries. It is decentralized in to four regions namely Asia & Pacific, East & Southern Africa, Western & Central Africa and Latin America. Current priority themes for the Asia-Pacific regional networks are; Global warming, Gender & Transport, Inclusive transport and Rural Transport safety.
