Green Freight China Seminar

The Green Freight China Seminar was held at the Beijing Scitech Hotel on 23 – 24 May 2011 in Beijing.

The Seminar was organized by the Clean Air Asia with support from the Road Transportation Department of Ministry of Transport (RTD-MoT), China, Vehicle Emission Control Center of Ministry of Environment Protection (VECC-MEP) in China, Energy Foundation , US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), the World Bank, and Cascade Sierra Solutions of the USA.

The objective of the Seminar is for Chinese governmental officials, enterprises and other organizations involved in freight in China to:

  • hear about China’s plans to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions from freight;
  • learn about international best practices; and to
  • discuss approaches and next steps for green freight development in China.

The broader aim is to establish a green freight partnership of private sector and other organizations as part of efforts to establish a Green Freight China Program that will cover:

  • clean technologies
  • logistics solutions
  • other policy measures

It is crucial that practical knowledge and experience from private enterprises be captured in the development of such a program in China.
