Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Mitigation in the Land Transport Sector in the ASEAN Region

Coordination of Philippine Project Implementation Activities

The GIZ project “Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Mitigation in the Sector in the ASEAN region” (Transport and Climate Change) aim to improve energy efficiency and theregy mitigating greenhouse gas emissions arising from land transport. The overall objective of the project is: “Strategies and action plans towards the improvement of energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are developed, implemented and monitored.” The project will work in four areasee:

  • Development of an ASEAN regional policy to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the land transport sector
  • Guidelines and templates for national policies and action plans for Member States
  • Development of action plans and measures in five countries, and implementation according to national plans in at least three ASEAN Member States
  • Improvement of the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) system in five countries

For the implementation of the project in the Philippines, GIZ engaged Clean Air Asia as the Transportation and Governance Specialist to provide technical, legal and advisory support in the field of sustainable transportation and governance and to form part of its implementing team in the Philippines.
