National emission inventory development in Mongolia

At the first of a series of emission inventory trainings in Ulaanbaatar from March 16-17, Clean Air Asia’s Integrated Programme for Better Air Quality in Asia (IBAQ Programme), in conjunction with the National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring of Mongolia (NAMEM) and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET), convened 26 representatives from government, research institutions and provincial environment monitoring agencies for a technical training on national EI development.

Plotting courses for Guidance Framework implementation

Building on the knowledge and skills of pilot countries to implement Clean Air Asia’s Guidance Framework for Better Air Quality in Asian Cities, a five-day workshop helped strengthen the technical capacity of instructors and enabled the identification of potential trainers and opportunities to roll out and expand upon current training modules.

China Air 2016 report finds continued air quality improvements in Chinese cities

Clean Air Asia’s “China Air 2016– Air Pollution Prevention and Control Progress in Chinese Cities” report found that as a result of good implementation of China’s Action Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control, the air quality of 161 cities in 2015 continued to improve as a whole.

Science-based policymaking mechanism the key to clean air in China

The 12th China City Air Quality Management Workshop, organized by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (FECO-MEP) and Clean Air Asia and co-organized by Chengdu Environmental Protection Bureau (Chengdu EPB) in Chengdu from November 15-16, introduced a science-based policy-making mechanism for cities to meet the 2017 air quality targets required by the Air Pollution Control and Prevention Action Plan.
