Clean Air Asia welcomes new Director of Programs

Clean Air Asia welcomes to the team Alan Silayan, who joins us as the new Director of Programs.

Mr Silayan has more than 12 years of experience, eight of which have involved developing the Philippine carbon credit market to see low-carbon technology systems implemented locally. He has worked in the private sector, with multilateral agencies, and coordinated with government agencies for the delivery of climate change mitigation projects and the design of innovative and often pioneering finance mechanisms.

He served as a specialist for ADB’s E-Tricycle Project and Compact Fluorescent Light Energy Efficiency Project, as well as projects related to the agriculture, energy, waste, heavy industry and transport sectors.

Mr Silayan comes to us from his position as a Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) consultant tasked with facilitating the National Action Plan for the reduction of Short-Lived Climate Pollutants in the Philippines, which included supporting the Climate Change Division of the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau in its role as member of the CCAC Steering Committee.

He has an MBA degree in International Management of Resources and Environment from the TU-Bergakademie Freiberg in Germany.

Clean Air Asia Executive Director Bjarne Pedersen said Mr Silayan would be a wonderful addition to the Clean Air Asia team, and a great asset for the organization.

“We’re proud to welcome Mr Silayan to Clean Air Asia,” Mr Pedersen said. “His long track record of accomplishments and his vision and drive will help us to further expand our horizons and achieve our goal of healthier cities and cleaner air throughout Asia.”
